Lunch break... in the Twilight Zone.

 On my lunch break, I stop in at home to grab a check, and notice Katie's car in the parking lot as I'm leaving for the bank...
Me (on phone): Hey, where are you?
Katie: The apartment. I just got home.
Me: Wait, when?
Katie: A few minutes ago.
Me: Holy shit, really? I was just in there.
Katie: How did I not see you?
Me: I have no idea. I saw your purse on the bed, but I thought you must have left it this morning. Had you just put it there??
Katie: Yes.
Me: Did you see that check on the bed?
Katie: Yes. Wait, no, not anymore.
Me: I just took that!
Katie: But how did we not...
Me: I don't even...
Katie: It doesn't make any...
Me: IS ONE OF US DEAD!?
